Legislation the MMA is working
to Stop
A bill to prohibit passengers under the age of 18 from riding on your motorcycle! (State Representative says you are a “knucklehead” if you ride with your kids or grandchildren!)
A bill to ban kids under 14 from riding Dirt Bikes & ATV’s ,restricting riders under 16 to 99cc or less and all riders under 18 Must receive rider training (House, No. 3592) Parents will face loss of drivers license and investigation by DSS
A bill to lower sound limits making your after market equipment obsolete, requiring it be replaced by OEM (factory) parts to comply.
Bills the MMA is working for
House, No. 3473, “Danny’s Bill,” will increase your Motorcycle Safety Fund from $2 to 20% of Registration Fee (Currently $25 = $5) 20% of that total would subsidize cost to riders under 21 for a Rider Training Course) Establish a Registry of Motor Vehicles Retained Revenue Account for the Fund.
House, No. 3491, increases the Motorcycle Safety Fund (from $2 to 20% per registration)
House, No. 960, will assess insurers 5% of motorcycle premiums towards Safety Fund
House, No. 1464, increased penalties for right of way violations
Senate, No. 920, Ban discrimination against motorcyclists
Senate, No. 2076, “Helmet choice” for adult riders.
Senate, No. 2077, clarify helmet law standards and when riders might be cited
House, No. 3617, off-road Trail Maintenance Program (NETRA Supported)
