FYI - last night I attended a fundraiser at Joe Tecce's in Boston, for
Senate President Murray, with the ABATE PAC of MA having issued a $200.00
check.
Got a lot of 'face time' with Senator Creedon, of Brockton (Chairman of the
Judiciary Committee), who mentioned his aide Tom had mentioned to him Elisa
and I had been with him Tuesday, and they were pouring over HB 1464 and
looked forward to the 3/18/08 hearing.
Got a lot of 'face time' with Senator McGee of Lynn, who is a BIG supporter
of our issues.
Got a lot of 'face time' with Senator Spilka of Framingham, who used to
ride and now she and her husband buy used cars and fix them up and sell
them. She's a 'wrench' herself ! She supports all our issues to help
reduce accidents and injuries.
Got a lot of 'face time' with Senator Morrissey of Quincy who is 100%
with us, and helps us on the Senate Floor navigating the process.
Got limited 'face time' with Senator O'Leary of the Cape and Islands,
who gave us help last session on most of our issues.
Got some 'face time' with Senator Panagiotakos of Lowell, Chairman of
the Senate Ways and Means Committee. Mentioned Dave Elias of Lowell
sent his hello's too. Dave will be working on him to get the $90,000
more in our motorcycle safety fund (budget line item number 8400-0016).
Got lots of 'face time' with former Senate President Trav's (Robert
Travaligni) Chief of Staff, David Morales, who is now Governor Patrick's
Chief Legislative Aide, who also gave me the Gov's scheduler to see if
we could get him out for a photo shoot with the Safety & Awareness
Period.
I also had good conversations with lobbyist David Bartley (former
Speaker of the House), who the New England Trail Riders Association (NETRA) is
contracted with and who helps us on the side/slide).
Finally, when the reception line was dying down to Senator Murray, I got
in it, introduced myself saying hi from Kevin Griffin our Chairman and
constituent, she mentioned our
MMA attendance at her last function saying she appreciated our
support and presence, and other nice pleasantries.
Sooo, the MMA had a PRESENCE and EXPOSURE at this Event, that had the
usually paid lobbyist attendees there, and I believe it was well worth
attending this Event. Let's push PAC donations so we can keep attending
these social functions keeping our 'leather lobby' in front of them.
One by one - we get it DONE !
